Proxy support for PDF auto-download feature

Dear all,

I couldn’t find any related discussion to my question. I hope I don’t create duplicate content. I access restricted PDFs through the proxy URL of my university. Once done for a particular article website, Paperpile can automatically fetch the PDF as an attachment.

However, this does not seem to work directly from within paperpile.com. Would it be possible to add an option that allows the user to provide an optional proxy URL together with his login credentials?

Would this enable Paperpile to automatically fetch PDF attachments using the auto-download feature?

Resolving PDFs through EZProxy

That feature is planned and we have made some preliminary test to integrate it. There is some complexity involved because it affects the whole networking part of Paperpile. So there will be nothing to announce any time soon, however, it's definitely on our radar. Remember proxy access to JSTOR etc

I access JSTOR, Science Direct and a dozen other databases via my university's proxy. So, for instance, when I go to JSTOR, it is not to www.jstor.org, but to www.jstor.org.proxy.library.nd.edu. And when I access it that way, I can download pdfs of the articles, because my library subscribes. And when I visit the proxy page, I can direct Paperpile to add the reference, and it (usually) picks up the pdf as well.
