I discovered that when I highlight something, and then double click in the highlights panel, I am able to edit the content. I think that text area should not be editable.
Actually that’s by design. Unfortunately the text from a highlight cannot be extracted from the PDF without errors in all cases. It’s an inherent limitation of the PDF format. For such cases you can fix the extracted text. That’s important not just for the side panel but also for the printable content summaries and ultimately for Paperpile which will show highlighted text portions.
