Some journals, like e.g. the NPG family of journals, want the references in the Methods section to be separate from the list of references in the main text. With the numbering staying the same.
You can add text with references after the reference section with Paperpile, and new references go in to the list. But it would be good with an option to make references introduced after a reference list to make a new reference list.
