Do not use sentence format when formatting references

Hi team -

Small suggestion. When I format citations, the resulting text takes on the format of the adjacent sentence. e.g. if I have a citation like this:
“We showed some stuff(Bornstein et al 2018)”

it turns into:
"We showed some stuff[15]

Which is undesirable. Can you ensure that the formatted reference text takes on a common format, no matter the context of each individual citation?

Thanks for the request, @Aaron_Bornstein. I believe it is intentional for both in-text citations and the bibliography to take on the formatting of surrounding text/spaces; not sure if the opposite would be more detrimental than beneficial to other users. In any case, I switched this topic to ‘feature request’ and have added your feedback to our internal tracker for the team to consider over future reviews.
