I reference using APA 7. Paperpile is not recognising that websites need to have a date of retrieval. Although there is one entered in the metadata, it is not adding it to the reference list. Secondly, the references that require a URL, such as websites, etc., paperpile is not recognising this. There is a feature that allows all references to have a URL; however, that makes for more work. Shouldn’t PaperPile recognise what references need a URL or am I overlooking something?
Also when trying to add in data (edit in meta data) I will make the necessary changes and then select save, many times it does not save the changes, and it defaults back to the original data. Can you advise what is happening here
Thanks for reaching out here as well, @Tiffany_Burton! I have replied to your email with some thoughts and suggestions, please let us know how it goes.
I have the same problem - APA recommends included an accessed or retrieval date for online content likely to change. But this doesn’t come through in the citation - did you find a solution?
Thank you for your question, @Jesse_15. Citation formatting is based on the selected citation style from the CSL repository, and is usually influenced by the metadata — we don’t modify the citation style code ourselves.
That said, if your institution or publisher still requires retrieval dates, you can search for an alternative APA style on the CSL repository or make small tweaks to APA7 using the CSL Editor at editor.citationstyles.org and upload your modified style to Paperpile via Settings > Citation styles, where it will be available for use in your documents.
