Currently autoupdate overwrites the manually modified bibtex keys, which is not good. These keys are used as mnemonics since the autogenerated keys are pretty useless for this.

Thanks for the feedback, @Tobi_Delbruck - advanced options to customize/preserve BibTeX keys are planned and posted on our roadmap. I don’t have an ETA for the feature yet but it’s on our short-term plans!
