I’ve noticed that 99% of the time Paperpile doesn’t capitalise the individual words in journal names in the ‘Journal (full title)’ field when I add papers from journal webpages (I am using the Chrome Paperpile extension), despite the names being capitalised on these webpages. It keeps them all lowercase, apart from the first word. I then have to manually capitalise each word. Could the default setting be to capitalise? Many thanks,
Sam
Welcome to our community, @Sam_Buckton! When you save a reference, Paperpile automatically replaces any journal-name variant (for example, in title case) with the standardized title (in sentence case) to ensure consistency across your library and accurate citation formatting (many citation styles will change the sentence case to title case automatically, if required).
If your selected citation style doesn’t convert the journal field to title case automatically, you can bulk edit the journal name across your library:
-
In the search options, use Quick lookup to find all references with the journal title you’d like to change. Press
/
once to jump to the search box, then press/
again and start typing the name of the journal:
-
Select all the references in the list by clicking the select button in the toolbar and click the pencil to edit them:
-
In the Edit references window, you can then change the “Journal” or “Journal (full title)” fields:
Click Save to update the journal titles across your library.
Ah I see! Thanks a lot Suzanne
