Welcome to the forum, @Emilio_Pacheco. You can safely ignore this warning as we have a new extension ready to release to users. During the transition from old to new Paperpile, both legacy and new apps are available, and we’re intentionally keeping the old extension for backwards compatibility with the legacy app.
Since I saw in another related post that your team isn’t able to reproduce the message, and it annoys me yet again today, let me add some detail. The issue does not interfere with the functionality of the app in anyway.
I opted in for the new version a couple months ago and have been using it since. This (non)-issue started only in the past month or so. If I leave the main paperpile tab opened in chrome, and send the computer into sleep at the end of a day, upon waking up the next morning, chrome may (or may not, not all the time) shutdown paperpile and ask me to update/re-download it.
If this happens, I am then redirected to the chrome web store page which bears the message. But chrome web store also determines that I have paperpile installed and there is nothing to download, And then I can just re-launch the app normally.
This behavior has occurred, multiple times, on both my desktop Windows 10 PC and Macbook Air M2, both running Google Chrome.
Thanks for the detail report. We can reproduce this issue to some degree. The problem is when Chrome wakes up, it seems the webapp wakes up before the extension. That’s a classical race condition that happens sometimes but now always. We are looking into it and should be able to fix that. Thanks again!
@PT_How This issue should be addressed with the latest extension update (v 1.5.742). You can check the extension version by clicking on the question mark in the bottom right corner of the web app. Can you let us know if you continue to see this notification?
