I have been using the new plugin on chrome on windows for a while now. I started noticing more duplicates showing up, but wasn’t sure th cause. Just now, I clicked “update citations and bibliography” and my citations went from 981 to 1158 instantly. Almost all of them are duplicates, but some of them are mistaken duplicates like chapters in a book (which continues to be a separate issue).
I wanted to switch back to the old plugin but it says I might not be able to edit documents that used the new plugin, so now I feel trapped.
Any ideas what is going on?

Thank you for letting us know, @Flounder, and I’m sorry for the inconvenience. You should be able to switch back to the old plugin. First, make a copy of your document, revert back to the legacy plugin from the Paperpile menu in Google Docs, and then try reformatting your document.
To help our team investigate the underlying issue, please share the document that produced duplicates with us at share-with-support@paperpile.com.
I shared it to that email. Thank you.
