Extension unable to add PDF links from Edge(ium)

A pdf link opened in Edge(ium) has no option to add as a pdf file. A web reference is NOT the same as adding a pdf file as a result no PDF file would be added.

A picture might tell a better story:

This also happens very often in Chrome - certainly more often than the expected behaviour (which would be to add the PDF file to Paperpile). I have got used to downloading PDFs temporarily to my desktop and then uploading them manually through the Paperpile web interface. It would be great to know if there is any fix for this.

Could you post a link to a PDF here? I would like to check if I can reproduce it on my local installation.

Here are two papers that I’ve added recently. In both cases I had to download the PDF and then add it to Paperpile manually as a file.

But honestly I don’t think I have seen the “add PDF to Paperpile” button appear when clicking on the extension for at least a year. I’m using Chrome 78 on Windows 10.

That’s strange. I have tested these two PDFs on Windows and the import panel should the “Add PDF” button. Are you using any other extension or another PDF Viewer that could interfere with Paperpile?

Good suggestion. I’ve just tried disabling and re-enabling all my extensions one by one, and found that the problem is with the Google Input Tools extension, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-input-tools/mclkkofklkfljcocdinagocijmpgbhab With that extension disabled, the “Add PDF to Paperpile” button appears reliably.

Thanks! I had assumed that this was an ongoing bug in Paperpile, and I hadn’t thought to check for incompatibilities with other extensions.

I have found the culprit! it is “LINER - Web/PDF Highlighter”.
