Hello! As of today, the Extensions->Paperpile->Manage citations menu item has disappeared from my and my colleagues’ Google Docs, with only the Help item remaining. Can you please help? This is a critical issue for our paper that we are resubmitting soon…
Thank you for your report, @Mikhail_Spivakov. The team is currently updating the add-on, and I’ll keep you posted about their progress here.
In the meantime, you can use the Paperpile extension to format citations in Google Docs. If you are signed into Paperpile, the Paperpile menu will load automatically when you open a Google Doc. To verify this, look for the Paperpile menu on the top ribbon and the P button on the right of the toolbar:
I’m running into the same problem today. All the menu items have disappeared, leaving only “Help.” I can still use the Paperpile extension to insert citations, but when I try to format them using “Format citations“ I get the error: “Whoops — an error occurred during processing.” Can you provide some suggestions? Very urgent too.
The add-on is back up and running — the update has been completed, so Extensions > Paperpile > Manage citations should be available again in Google Docs.
If you’re still seeing only the Help item, try reloading your doc / restarting the browser. Let us know if anything else comes up!
I got this error when I updated the citations:
The Paperpile server took too long to respond when formatting your citations.
A Google Apps Script error occurred with message “SERVER_TIMEOUT”. Contact Paperpile support to resolve this issue.
One or more of these errors caused processing to not be completed.
Thanks for letting us know! I can confirm that it’s back up and running for me now.
Thank you for reporting this error message, @Cheng_xiang_Qiu. Has the issue persisted? Have you tried restarting your browser (in Chrome, you can type chrome://restart in the address bar and the browser will restart and reopen all your tabs of the current profile)?
Restarting Chrome didn’t help. However, I uninstalled both the add-on and the extension, then reinstalled only the add-on, and now it works. Thank you so much for your help!
