Yes – the MCP integration is still in progress.
We’re incredibly enthusiastic about this work. In fact, I’m getting more excited as more of it gets built out. Which is rare in software development!
I don’t have an exact release date, but we’re taking extraordinary efforts to move quickly and get this into real-world use without delay. My hope is that we get this to early adopters (folks on this thread) in a timeline measured in weeks rather than months.

Thank you! From my very quick testing it works wonderfully with Gemini and Claude, but not with Copilot (personal or corporate) the commend does not get ‘passed through’ to the copilot when I click a command in the Paperpile window.

Can you share more details on what did not work? Did you select references in your library, click Ask AI in the toolbar, select Copilot, and the PDF with your selected prompt did not get sent to Copilot? Did you click the P button in Copilot to select PDFs from your library? Or did you attempt to send a PDF to Copilot using the Ask AI button in the PDF viewer toolbar?
When testing in Copilot, please also make sure you’re signed into your preferred Copilot account before using Ask AI. Paperpile will use whichever account is currently signed in.
Make sure your Paperpile extension is up-to-date (you can manually update it: Install and use the Chrome Extension | Paperpile Help Center)
So I realized that this was in Edge. In Chrome it works fine.

If the issue still occurs in Edge after updating the extension and signing in to Copilot, could you take a screenshot or short screen recording of what you see and share it with us through our in-app messenger or by emailing support@paperpile.com? This will help our team troubleshoot the issue.
Hi Greg, this is a fantastic feature. Currently, in my writing process with AI agents, I first use markdown format, then, in the final stage, I convert to Google Docs or Word for external collaboration. Now, what I really want is the feature of automatically inserting Paperpile links via your API with integration of OpenAI Claude queries of relevant literature. This will save a lot of time. At the moment, I manually insert all citations.

Our new AI assistant integration, Ask AI, is in private beta, and it lets you send PDFs from your library to Claude, NotebookLM, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot. It includes in-built prompts for summarization, paper comparisons, and literature review.
We’d appreciate it if you could try Ask AI out and share your feedback. I have sent you an invite to the email you use for Paperpile.
would also love to beta test the ask ai feature. almost 7k papers in my library, so it would be a huge help!
