I see that paperpile syncs the folder with google drive based on the first alphabet of the author. Instead is it possible to sync using the folder name’s as configured in paperpile.

We understand the use case. We don’t offer this option mainly because of efficiency reasons. Papers can be in multiple folders and some users have tens of thousands of papers. Mapping this complexity to a cloud storage provider is tricky.
That’s why we settled for the default that can’t be changed. However, we offer at least one folder ‘Starred’ that is mapped dynamically between your library and your Google Drive.
