Force in-text citation order

Is there an easy way to force the in-text order of citations in the Google Docs plug-in, when it doesn’t match the citation style? For example, a citation might read (Smith 2003, but see Jones 2001). I can set this up using the prefix options (by adding the prefix ‘but see’ to Jones 2001), but under the standard ordering criteria (which need to operate throughout the bulk of citations in the manuscript), it gets re-ordered to (but see Jones 2001, Smith 2003) when I format my citations - with a completely different meaning!

To read correctly, this particular citation, and only this one, needs to ignore the standard ordering criteria, so is this possible?

That’s not possible at the moment. If the citation style re-orders the citations also the prefix will be re-ordered.
