How to preserve in text citations while formatting citations

Hi - there have just started to use the chrome web app. I am trying to use two types of referencing - just name and year in the footnotes and a full bibliography at the end of the document. I create a footnote in google docs, then ‘add citation’. It comes up with the in text citation formatting of name and year. However, when I press the format citations button to create a bibliography it reformists the in text citation as well as creating a bibliography entry. Is there a way to maintain two styles of reference?

Thanks for the query, @Ben_Tudor, and welcome to our forum! Which style are you using? In-text citation format will respond to the chosen style regardless of its location (footnote or text), usually author-year or a number except for full-note styles. Let me know.
