Is there an ideal way to separate multiple abstracts? For instance, when a paper provides an abstract in english and spanish?
Thank you for your question, @anna. Currently, there isn’t a way to smoothly separate multiple abstracts because references in Paperpile have a single abstract field. One option would be to select the reference in your library, click the edit button in the toolbar, and edit the abstract field by selecting and cutting the second abstract, clicking Save, and pasting it into the notes panel (speech bubble) under the reference in the list view.
We’d like to learn more about what you’re trying to do. Do you need to search or filter your library by language-specific abstracts? If you decide to add the second abstract to the notes panel, then it would be searchable if you have the Include in search Notes and annotations search option switched on.
Thanks for clarifying. Yes, I would like to do language specific searches on only content that is in that language. So knowing which language the abstract is in or if there are multiple languages are helpful. While the notes option would allow that, it won’t tag abstracts by language so doesn’t fully solve my problem.
Thank you for sharing these additional details about your use case, @anna. I’ve recorded your thoughts on our internal feature tracker for the team’s consideration.
