Paperpile down Nov 24 2025?

I’m unable to load paperpile or use the Chrome extension. Spinning circle. Internet quite obviously working as I’m posting here from the same computer.

I have this same issue. Constantly getting “unable to connect to paperpile servers”.

On Chrome latest version (142.0.7444.176) on macbook pro (OS Tahoe 26.0.1)

I have already tried deleting all my Chrome browsing history, cookies, and site data, restarting Chrome, and also restarting computer.

I have tried signing in and out of Paperpile.

On my iPad, I get “error syncing library” and I have also tried on a Windows 11 PC on Chrome and get the same issues.

Welcome to our forum, @Vikas_O_Reilly-Shah. If the Paperpile web app is stuck on the loading screen and doesn’t progress, it may be due to a local database issue. This can usually be resolve by resetting the database and restarting the sync process: Please see instructions here.

Can you also check that Google Chrome is up to date. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of Chrome > Help > About Google Chrome. If an update is available, allow it to complete, and then restart the browser (type chrome://restart).

If the issue continues to persist, please contact our support team at support@paperpile.com or via the in-app messenger.

Thank you for also reporting, @Alan; can you try the steps above and if the issue persists, please email our support team.

Hi Suzanne,

Thank you for the reply, I have tried the suggestion and unfortunately didn’t work. I have emailed support@paperpile.com with more details and screenshots. Thanks

Fixed! For me, here’s what worked:

I went to my Chrome Extensions (puzzle piece icon) and clicked Manage Extension (you can also right click Paperpile icon and click Manage Extension.)

I then used the toggle to ‘turn off’ then ‘turn back on’ the extension.

PaperPile then behaved as per normal.

Closing the browser completely and other steps did NOT solve the problem.

I did not have to completely remove and re-add the extension, though that was going to be my next step.

I’m wondering if the service worker somehow became corrupted.

Good to hear! I tried doing the same thing on my machines and it did not solve the problem

Just an update on this, in case anyone else comes into this issue. Mine randomly started working again after a couple of days, though I had been signed out of everything. Once I signed back in it was fine. Just today the same thing happened again.

After some other investigation, I tried changing the DNS of my router to Google DNS (8.8.8.8) and that has fixed it, at least for now. So might be an issue with my ISP DNS specifically.
