Paperpile search tool on Google Docs doesn't return the expected results

Hi! I am new to using the Google Doc extension, and I find that the online search feature does not work as expected.

For example, when I enter the exact name of the paper in the search bar, it doesn’t return the paper, but papers that contain those words in their title:

Am I doing something wrong?

Welcome to our forum, @Lauradrh, and thank you for your question! The Google Docs sidebar add-on that you have installed searches keywords, authors, author + year, and identifiers like DOIs, PMIDs, and ISBNs.

If a search for the title does not return what you need, try searching by DOI or another identifier instead:

Another option is to use the Paperpile Chrome extension, which enables the Paperpile Google Docs plugin. When installed, it automatically adds a Paperpile menu in the top ribbon and a P button in the toolbar of your Google Doc:

Click the P button to open the Insert citation dialog, type in the title, and then click Search online for papers to find what you need:
