Paperpile to Obsidian / Notion Sync Tool

Here is a link to code on Github for syncing Paperpile to Obsidian. It is python-based and requires the use of terminal to run the code.

I am quite sure that a better version of this can be made via AI coding to include python libraries capable of extracting highlights and annotation images, into the new notes generated in Obsidian.

It would be wonderful to not have to use a workaround/hack method in order to move annotations into standalone notes so that they can be used as study material or reference notes on a particular source and back-linked on particular topics.

I wonder the possibility of integrating such a “send to” feature from within Paperpile (e.g. send to Notion folder; send to Obsidian) for a much cleaner workflow. Or alternatively, like the Word Plugin, creating an official plugin which is able to pull from the Paperpile databse for this purpose.

Thank you for sharing this, @ashleyv. Direct integrations with apps like Obsidian and Notion are on our roadmap for the future. We’d like to make these workflows much smoother without the need for workarounds.

Would like to know the dev plan, will it be coming early 26?

Welcome to our forum, @Austin_Cheung and thanks for checking in on this thread. At the moment, we don’t have a specific timeline to share—the feature is on our roadmap for future implementation, but we’re not able to commit to an expected release date (including early 2026). We know this is something users are looking forward to, and we’ll make an announcement as soon as we have more concrete updates. Please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions in the meantime.
