Passing bibtex descriptions to existing files

Occasionally, Paperpile will have registered the wrong bibtex description from Scholar or I will have to update a paper’s metadata as it has moved from prepublication to published. At the moment it seems that the only way to modify metadata is field by field. Given an updated bibtex, it would be nice if I could simply copy-paste it in, replacing the old fields completely.
It might also be handy if a paper could be replaced with an updated version, replacing metadata and file, but keeping labels, notes and folder location.

A related issue: if you want to make changes to a large number of articles, it would be convenient if you could load the whole bibtex file, make appropriate substitutions (e.g. by find/replace) and then substitute it back in.

This is what makes me not using paperpile.
