Text to citation

Hi all, Does anyone know a way to go from a purely text document with formatted citations to paperpile citations?
It seems like this should be possible in the current age.

There’s no direct way to convert a plain text document with formatted citations to Paperpile citations, @James_Burchfield, but there are some partial workarounds I can offer. If it is a Word document, with our Word plugin, you can reconstruct the in-text citations and bibliography by clicking the Add/Edit citation button, typing in the title/identifier/author and year, searching online for each citation (see screenshot), and adding them to your document. When you add them to the document, they will also be added to your library.

Our Google Docs plugin also allows you to search online for each reference and add them to the Google Doc. Again you can just type in keywords, URL, DOI etc. to find the reference and click Search online for papers.

And if you’d just like to add the references to your library and cite them somewhere else, in your library, go to the Add button and select Paste, where you can paste in the plain text bibliography and they will become references that you can add to your Paperpile library.
