I am currently writing a paper using the Chicago style citation. However, I have this odd problem where one of my sources has the title included every time I use it, instead of just the author. Why might this be/how do I fix it?
I have tried applying different Chicago styles, but no change.
I have attached a few screenshots for reference (see Nakamura).
This is due to a limitation in the engine we use to format citations. The Chicago style guides specify that a title should be added to subsequent references whenever there is more than one work by the author being cited.
From what I can gather, the citation engine does not have a mechanism for this particular rule and as such all the Chicago “note” styles conservatively specify to include the title every time.
