See screenshot below: what is the “number” data field for? I don’t think it’s volume number as that appears separately when you choose the article type.
The “Number” field isn’t the same as a volume number—that appears separately for journal articles (as the “Volume” field) @Dan_Hackley. Its meaning depends on the reference type. For example, in the case of a report, it refers to the report number, which is a unique identifier assigned by the issuing organization. Some citation styles will require you to include this report number in your reference.
