APA format for multiple citations

APA format for multiple citations should look like this: (Ask et al., 2014; Cuijpers, 2005; Joling et al., 2014; Kiecolt-Glaser et al., 1991), but when I format in google docs it gives this: (Ask et al., 2014); (Cuijpers, 2005); (Joling et al., 2014); (Kiecolt-Glaser et al., 1991). When I remove the parentheses, they just reappear when I format again. Any suggestions?

If you cite multiple sources at the same position you need to include them together (internally we call this a “citation cluster”). Simply keep adding references and they will appear as blue boxes, once your done click the blue button and you get the result you want:
