Auto-Update converts preprints to the published paper if available

To avoid citing a preprint rather than the actual published paper, it would be great if auto-update converted preprints that have been published automatically. Bioarxiv at least indicates if a preprint has been published. Alternatively, perhaps there could be a notification when citing a preprint that has been published.

I (personally) have no need to keep the preprint if the paper has been published.

Thank you for the suggestion. We are currently undecided on this feature; we do not update the PDF files, since people annotate in them, so updating the metadata could be misleading. You can follow the discussion here: Preprint -> Published paper
