arXiv preprints into published articles?

What is the best way to handle arXiv preprints that get published at some point? I noticed that Paperpile automatically links the published paper as an “associated paper”.

wouldn’t it make more sense to cite the published article instead of the preprint? (or maybe prompt the user to choose?)

Also, going back to a document where I cited an arXiv article, is there any (non-manual) way to change it to the published article?

This is a topic we have not yet developed automated solutions for, but is solidly on our wishlist. You can read more about it on this thread, which includes a suggested workaround from the original poster.
